To ensure continuous growth and become a leader in the European consumer billing market we are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as General Counsel.

About the role:

As General Counsel, you will be responsible for a wide scope of legal matters with primary focus on commercial law. Focus will be on identifying and mitigating legal risks and promoting legal understanding and compliance throughout our expanding organisation. This is a key position to keep our steady growth where you will have the opportunity to construct and further develop a proactive legal function.

Primary responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for all legal matters at Billogram with primary focus on commercial law. You will also provide support within other legal areas such as data protection matters, labor law, and financial and regulatory law, including GDPR where you will work in close collaboration with our compliance team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, sales, product and HR, as well as other departments, to ensure legal goals align with overall business objectives.
• Educate other departments in a structured way to build a solid foundation of legal understanding and compliance across the organization.
• Provide legal support in development of new business contracts and partnerships.
• Develop and update templates, policies, tools etc to ensure efficient and on-point legal support.
• Involved in legal projects, including compliance and internationalization.
• Continue to build the inhouse legal function, including recruiting new team members.
• Keep up-to-date on industry trends.
• Part of the management team.

You have the ability to work together with the business to identify, assess and pragmatically reduce commercial risk where your focus is on finding solutions, rather than identifying problems.

Finally, you have the ability to work on both a strategic level as well as hands-on operational duties and enjoy the mix.

Skills & qualifications which will help you succeed in this role:

• Master’s degree in law from Swedish University.
• Relevant work experience as an inhouse counsel is a requirement, experience from a Swedish law firm is a plus.
• Extensive experience and knowledge of contract law as well as data protection (GDPR).
• Strong leadership and people management skills is a must.
• Experience from working within or with regulated companies such as fintech and/or payment services is a plus.
• Experience from working in an international setting is highly desirable.
• Experience from working in a fast-paced, changing environment is advantageous.
• Understanding of and interest in IT and tech is a plus.
• Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and verbal, is a requirement. Fluency in German is a plus.
